TL;DR · Simulation Runtime Engineer

The Simulation Runtime Engineer joins the team to develop and support core runtime components, tools, and integrations for simulation, digital twin, robotics, and autonomy workloads. The role involves building production-quality software for runtime services, physics integration, APIs, developer tooling, packaging, testing, and performance improvements. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining reusable libraries, managing lifecycle execution, troubleshooting defects, and profiling CPU, GPU, and memory performance. Candidates will utilize C++, Python, C#, or Java while working with Unreal Engine, NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, and various physics engines. The position requires expertise in Linux, Git, build systems, and CI/CD workflows to solve complex challenges in construction autonomy. By integrating these technologies, the role addresses critical problems in physical AI, sensing, and edge computing to enable intelligent machines to operate safely within dynamic jobsite environments.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain simulation runtime components, reusable libraries, and services using C++ and Python.
  • Implement features for simulation lifecycle management, configuration, error handling, and results collection.
  • Integrate runtime components with Unreal Engine, NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, and various physics engines.
  • Create and maintain APIs, SDKs, command-line tools, and developer utilities to support internal workflows.
  • Manage software packaging, dependency management, build systems, and automated deployment pipelines.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, regression, and performance tests for all runtime components.
  • Profile and optimize CPU/GPU usage, memory, startup time, and overall system stability.
  • Troubleshoot software defects, integration failures, and performance bottlenecks in the simulation environment.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 2+ years of software engineering experience; relevant academic, research, internship, or project experience may be considered.
  • Experience in software development using C++, Python, C#, Java, or other relevant languages with strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Linux, Git, build systems, debugging tools, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Understanding of APIs, SDKs, software packaging, dependency management, configuration systems, and integration testing.
  • Ability to diagnose software issues through logs, debuggers, profiling tools, and systematic troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of simulation, game engines, robotics, physics engines, distributed systems, or real-time software (preferred).
  • Exposure to Unreal Engine, NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, Unity, Gazebo, AirSim, CARLA, or comparable tools (preferred); Docker, cloud environments, GPU-enabled applications, or performance optimization (plus).
