Senior Technical Writer

What you'll do

• Create and maintain high-quality, client-facing API and knowledge base content that meets industry standards.
• Write API documentation, programming guides, integration guides, tutorials, and release documentation.
• Partner with engineers and product managers to translate technical concepts into user-focused content.
• Use generative AI tools to research, draft, restructure, and improve technical content.
• Apply human expertise to AI-generated content to ensure accuracy, security, and technical validity.
• Develop AI prompts and repeatable workflows to automate repetitive documentation tasks.
• Lead documentation initiatives and mentor less experienced team members to ensure high-standard content delivery.
• Explore structured content and metadata approaches to improve accessibility for humans and AI systems.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or higher in English, technical communications, computer science, or a similar field.
• 7+ years of experience as a technical writer for a developer audience at a fast-paced software company.
• Proven experience writing detailed, user-centered API and programming documentation in a fast-paced software environment.
• Experience using generative AI tools as part of a professional workflow to research, draft, and improve technical content.
• Experience with Markdown or another markup language, GitHub, Jira, and Swagger.
• Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• A strong writing portfolio demonstrating technical writing skills.
• Ability to work in US time zones, ideally Central Standard Time.
• Advanced degree in a related discipline (preferred).
• Programming experience beyond the baseline requirement (preferred).
• Experience with tools such as Postman, Confluence, ReadMe, or Zendesk (preferred).
• Experience developing documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences (preferred).
• Experience building AI prompt libraries or documentation-specific AI workflows (preferred).
• Experience designing or documenting an enterprise API solution (preferred).
