Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Apple Search & Knowledge Platforms

What you'll do

• Lead the development of high-quality summarization models for personal content across Apple apps.
• Drive the creation of advanced generative AI models for accurate, grounded summaries on Apple’s Private Cloud Compute servers.
• Develop software frameworks for efficient LLM-based model inference both on-device and server-side.
• Integrate Apple's ecosystem with its LLM infrastructure to enhance user experiences.
• Lead engineering efforts to improve the quality and safety of summarization models using advanced RL methods.
• Execute product vision and strategy to deliver top-tier end-user experiences in AI, search, and knowledge platforms.

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of experience leading ML projects in NLP and generative AI models
• Proven track record of delivering technology/products through the full ML lifecycle
• MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, information retrieval, data mining, or related field
• Strong background in LLM post-training, RLHF/RLAIF, reward model optimization, and hallucination reduction methods
• Exceptional communication skills for leading engineering teams and product vision development
• Ability to manage long-term strategy while delivering short-term project goals effectively
