Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer

What you'll do

• Lead a team of engineers to deliver efficient and effective Generative AI models for content summarization.
• Drive end-to-end R&D and engineering to create high-quality summaries for both on-device and cloud-based platforms.
• Develop state-of-the-art LLM-based generative, groundedness, and safety models to ensure accurate and safe user experiences.
• Build sophisticated software frameworks for fast and cost-efficient LLM inference across on-device and server environments.
• Improve summarization model quality for world knowledge questions and real-time web page highlights in Safari.
• Integrate the Apple ecosystem with internal LLM infrastructure to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Define and execute the product vision and strategy for high-quality end-user experience delivery.

What we're looking for

• At least 8 years of experience in leading engineering, applied research, or ML experiences in NLP and SOTA generative AI models.
• A proven record of consistently delivering technology and products across the full Machine Learning life cycle.
• A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, information retrieval, data mining, or a related field.
• Strong background and experience in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Experience in LLM post-training, including RLHF/RLAIF, reward models, and advanced RL policy optimization algorithms.
• Expertise in hallucination reduction methods and developing high-availability, low-latency, and stable RL-based models.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to lead teams and collaborate with organizational partners.
• Strong engineering leadership, product vision, and business acumen to manage long-term strategy and short-term deliverables.
