Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Search & Knowledge Platforms

What you'll do

• Research and develop state-of-the-art deep learning models and LLMs for Apple's AI-powered products.
• Develop, fine-tune, and evaluate domain-specific Large Language Models for tasks like summarization and question answering.
• Translate product requirements into specific modeling and engineering tasks.
• Conduct applied research to transition cutting-edge generative AI research into production-ready technologies.
• Improve Open Domain Question Answering using structured knowledge graphs and unstructured web data.
• Develop systems to retrieve, rank, and synthesize information across multiple sources to satisfy user intent.
• Research and develop LLMs specifically for summarizing personal data like emails and messages.
• Implement advanced techniques including RLHF, DPO, LoRA, and safety guardrails for model optimization.

What we're looking for

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience with Deep learning or LLM development for NLP tasks and RAG applications.
• 4+ years of experience with large-scale model training, optimization, and deployment is preferred.
• Experience with Python and at least one deep learning framework such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
• 1+ year of experience in state-of-the-art LLM fine-tuning techniques including SFT, RLHF, DPO, LoRA, or safety guardrails.
• One or more scientific publications in various conferences and journals are preferred.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
