Senior Software Engineer, Apple Ads

What you'll do

• Architect and implement internet-scale, low-latency, and highly-available ad-serving systems in a cloud environment.
• Build performant micro-services and distributed data platforms to handle high data volumes and QPS.
• Engineer secure, scalable data processing pipelines for petabyte-scale datasets used in indexing and retrieval.
• Apply algorithmic search, machine learning, NLP, and AI techniques to improve candidate retrieval and ranking.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented code and participate in peer code reviews.
• Debug and resolve complex issues across large-scale distributed systems.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of industry experience architecting and developing internet-scale server software for Linux systems.
• Strong coding skills in Go, Java, Rust, C++, Scala, or a similar OOP/Functional language.
• Strong background in computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating scalable micro-services.
• Experience with search technologies like Lucene, Solr, or Elasticsearch and NoSQL datastores like Cassandra.
• Proficiency with data processing technologies like Kafka, Spark, or Flink for petabyte-scale datasets.
• Experience with AWS services such as Amazon S3, EC2, and EKS/Kubernetes.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
• Experience building ad-serving, recommendation, or large-scale retrieval systems (preferred).
• Familiarity with real-time bidding, candidate retrieval, or ranking pipelines (preferred).
• Experience operating services with strict latency and availability SLOs (preferred).
• Familiarity with privacy-preserving system design and data-handling practices (preferred).
