Senior Software Developer

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and maintain core Qiskit SDK components and public APIs.
• Develop performance-critical code with a focus on usability, extensibility, and backward compatibility.
• Build and maintain compiler infrastructure including intermediate representations (IRs), optimization passes, and compilation pipelines.
• Review and mentor code contributions from both internal engineers and external open-source contributors.
• Manage open-source workflows including design discussions, documentation, and release cycles.
• Debug and resolve complex technical issues across a large, evolving codebase.

What we're looking for

• Doctorate Degree (preferred).
• Strong proficiency in Rust and Python for building performance-critical systems.
• Deep experience designing, building, or maintaining compiler frameworks or complex compilation pipelines.
• Strong understanding of compiler architecture, including IRs, optimization passes, and compilation pipelines.
• Significant experience contributing to or maintaining large open-source projects.
• Hands-on experience with LLVM, MLIR, or similar compiler infrastructures (preferred).
• Familiarity with quantum compiler concepts such as circuit representations, optimization, or synthesis (preferred).
