TL;DR · Senior Scientist, Scientific Workflows & Agentic Cheminformatics

The Senior Scientist, Scientific Workflows & Agentic Cheminformatics joins the In Silico Discovery department within Therapeutics Discovery. This role involves designing, prototyping, and validating agent-enabled workflows to address high-value discovery questions. The successful candidate will build trusted partnerships with medicinal chemists and biologists to translate complex scientific questions into automated workflows. Key responsibilities include evaluating agent behavior for scientific validity, developing prototypes in realistic discovery settings, and integrating these capabilities into familiar scientific environments. Required expertise includes a PhD or equivalent experience in cheminformatics, computational chemistry, or medicinal chemistry, alongside strong Python programming skills. Candidates must demonstrate experience in developing automated pipelines, AI-assisted software development, and predictive models. The work focuses on solving drug discovery problems by making evidence and expert judgment explicit through reusable, agentic computational approaches.

What you'll do

  • Design, prototype, and validate agent-enabled workflows for high-value drug discovery questions.
  • Translate complex scientific questions into well-defined workflows that make assumptions and expert judgments explicit.
  • Evaluate agent behavior and outputs for scientific validity, reproducibility, and relevance to discovery decisions.
  • Develop and test agentic prototypes by combining scientific expertise with predictive models and computational tools.
  • Take technical ownership of agentic workstreams by setting success measures and making informed trade-offs.
  • Integrate agentic capabilities into familiar scientific environments through user training and project partnerships.
  • Collaborate with data science and platform engineering teams to contribute scientific requirements for production implementation.
  • Translate successful project solutions into reusable capabilities aligned with shared architectures.

What we're looking for

  • PhD or equivalent substantial experience in cheminformatics, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong scientific expertise relevant to drug discovery and compound design.
  • Strong Python programming skills and experience developing automated workflows, pipelines, or scientific applications.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development approaches to build reliable scientific software or automated workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in emerging areas and collaborate across scientific, data science, and technology teams.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
  • Experience designing and evaluating end-to-end agent-enabled scientific workflows or multi-agent solutions (preferred).
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration, version control, testing, CI/CD, and public/commercial bioactivity and chemogenomics databases (preferred).
