Senior Principal Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Define and drive the long-term validation strategy for distributed database infrastructure supporting OCI control plane services.
• Design and automate large-scale validation frameworks for fault injection, high availability, disaster recovery, and system upgrades.
• Develop production-scale workload generation infrastructure to evaluate database behavior under realistic customer workloads and failure scenarios.
• Create data consistency and correctness validation mechanisms to ensure integrity during failover, recovery, and migration workflows.
• Investigate complex reliability issues and perform root cause analysis in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Establish validation standards, operational best practices, and automation strategies across multiple internal organizations.
• Provide technical guidance on database reliability, scalability, and performance to influence architecture and design decisions.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

What we're looking for

• Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Candidates must have 10+ years of relevant engineering, architecture, or development/operational experience.
• Experience in solving complex system, data-plane level, and performance problems is required.
• Ability to design and develop large-scale validation frameworks for fault injection, high availability, and disaster recovery is required.
• Expertise in building low-level systems with high performance is required.
• Candidates must be able to design distributed system interactions for high scale control plane and data plane services.
• Experience in developing production-scale workload generation and validation infrastructure is required.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, mentor senior engineers, and influence architecture decisions is required.
