TL;DR · Senior Principal Robotics & AMR Automation Platforms Engineer

The Senior Principal Robotics & AMR Automation Platforms Engineer joins the Automation Platforms team to develop and scale reusable technologies for a global manufacturing network. This role serves as the enterprise technical authority for autonomous mobile robots, collaborative robots, and emerging intelligent automation. You will define technical strategies, platform architectures, and roadmaps while leading the development of reusable robotics platforms to reduce deployment costs. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting systems integrating AMRs, cobots, mobile manipulators, machine vision, 3D perception, and fleet-management software. You will evaluate emerging technologies like AI-enabled perception, robotic foundation models, and digital twins. The role requires expertise in autonomous navigation, industrial controls, and cybersecurity within regulated manufacturing environments to solve complex multidisciplinary engineering challenges and establish robotics platform governance.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the enterprise technical authority for AMRs, cobots, and other intelligent robotics technologies.
  • Define long-term technical visions, roadmaps, platform architectures, and standards for autonomous material movement.
  • Lead the development of reusable robotics platforms to reduce deployment costs and enable global replication.
  • Architect complex robotic systems integrating machine vision, 3D perception, industrial controls, and fleet-management software.
  • Partner with manufacturing sites to identify high-value opportunities and lead technology development from prototyping to deployment.
  • Establish robotics platform governance for safety, cybersecurity, validation, and lifecycle management in regulated environments.
  • Build strategic relationships with external suppliers, technology companies, and research institutions to evaluate new technologies.
  • Lead the development of an Automation Platforms laboratory for prototyping, simulation, and testing.

What we're looking for

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience, or an advanced degree and 8+ years of experience.
  • Must have 10+ years of experience developing and deploying AMRs, cobots, industrial robots, or other advanced automation in production manufacturing.
  • Must have 10+ years of experience developing reusable robotics platforms, architectures, standards, or solutions across multiple applications or sites.
  • Must have experience with AMR fleet management, autonomous navigation, facility assessment, interoperability, and material-flow optimization.
  • Must have experience with advanced robotic manipulation, including force/torque sensing, vision-guided robotics, and human-robot collaboration.
  • Must have knowledge of robotics safety standards, cybersecurity, equipment validation, and lifecycle management in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience architecting and integrating robotic systems with machine vision, 3D perception, and IT/OT systems (preferred).
  • Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
