Senior Network Engineer

What you'll do

• Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and lifecycle management of refinery business LAN infrastructure including switching and cabling.
• Develop and maintain LAN standards, configuration baselines, and site implementation guidance for complex industrial environments.
• Serve as a senior escalation point to resolve complex Layer 1 and Layer 2 network incidents and performance issues.
• Manage large-scale projects including network refreshes, construction support, office moves, and infrastructure remediation.
• Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement network segmentation, secure switch management, and compliance protocols.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation including logical/physical diagrams, port records, and inventory maps.
• Monitor network performance, analyze traffic trends, and perform proactive tuning to reduce recurring issues.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers, site IT staff, and external contractors.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5 or more years of relevant network engineer experience.
• Deep expertise in Layer 1 infrastructure including cabling, fiber standards, and physical hardware management.
• Advanced Layer 2 switching expertise including VLANs, spanning tree, and port security.
• Experience designing and documenting LAN architectures for large or complex environments.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise switching platforms such as Cisco or Arista.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and ability to communicate risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of Layer 3 integration, industrial environments, and network security controls (preferred); CCNP, CCNA, BICSI, FOA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certifications (preferred).
