Senior Network Engineer

What you'll do

• Manage the technical operation, engineering, and architecture of Cloudflare's global edge and backbone network.
• Diagnose and resolve complex network faults while leading end-to-end incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Build and maintain production AI agents and LLM-powered tools to automate network operations and reduce toil.
• Utilize internal AI platforms to accelerate root cause analysis and improve decision-making during high-pressure scenarios.
• Architect infrastructure improvements to lower latency, reduce packet loss, and increase scale across the global network.
• Mentor junior engineers by setting technical standards and leading structured troubleshooting sessions.
• Create technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles for cross-functional projects.

What we're looking for

• Proven track record in large-scale network engineering and operations.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or Go to build and maintain agent code.
• Working knowledge of agent integration patterns including tool calling and prompt iteration with evals.
• Experience reasoning about agent failure modes such as hallucination guards and blast-radius control.
• Deep expertise in BGP and anycast routing for diagnosing complex issues in production.
• Strong understanding of MPLS and Segment Routing.
• Proficiency across multiple network vendor operating systems like Juniper, Cisco, or Arista.
• Experience with network automation frameworks such as SaltStack or Ansible.
• Authorization to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws.
• Professional-level network certification (JNCIP, CCNP, or equivalent) (preferred).
• Experience with optical transport technologies such as CWDM and DWDM (preferred).
• Linux system administration experience (preferred).
• Experience writing architectural-level network configuration and design documentation (preferred).
