Senior Mission Operations Engineer, Strategic Defense joins the Mission Operations team to manage the execution, delivery, and success of customer accounts within the Strategic Defense business line. This role involves owning the deployment lifecycle for Anduril compute infrastructure, including Menace-T, Menace-I, and Voyager devices at government sites. You will serve as the primary technical bridge between government stakeholders and engineering teams to translate operational needs into actionable requirements. Key responsibilities include managing third-party system integrations involving sensors and effectors, establishing fleet management capabilities for asset tracking and health monitoring, and collaborating with SRE teams on software baselines and incident response. The role requires expertise in hardware form factors, power and cooling requirements, and networking fundamentals to solve complex problems within missile defense and battle management architectures while ensuring systems meet specific mission requirements across various government programs.
Plan and execute the deployment of Anduril hardware nodes at government sites nationwide.
Serve as the primary technical liaison between government customers and internal engineering teams.
Coordinate the physical integration of third-party sensors and effectors into Anduril hardware form factors.
Build and manage a fleet management system to track asset health, configurations, and software baselines.
Partner with SRE teams to monitor node health, perform updates, and manage incident responses.
Develop standardized playbooks and processes to ensure scalable and repeatable site activations.
Create technical reports, readiness reviews, and status briefings for internal leadership and government stakeholders.
What we're looking for
Must possess and maintain an active U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.
5+ years of experience in site operations, field engineering, systems deployment, or technical program management in defense or national security environments.
Hands-on experience deploying and sustaining compute hardware in operational or lab environments.
Technical familiarity with hardware form factors such as rack-mount servers and ruggedized edge compute devices.
Understanding of how third-party systems integrate into compute hardware regarding power, cooling, and networking requirements.
Demonstrated ability to serve as a liaison between technical engineering teams and government customers.
Experience working with software engineers or SRE teams on deployment, integration, or operational readiness activities.
Strong organizational skills for tracking assets, configurations, or fleet-level data across distributed sites.
Ability to travel 25–50% to government sites for deployments and customer engagements.
Experience with Anduril hardware platforms or similar ruggedized/tactical compute systems (preferred).
Background in missile defense, integrated air and missile defense, or space defense programs (preferred).
Familiarity with Lattice OS or similar distributed C2 operating systems (preferred).
Experience standing up fleet management, asset tracking, or configuration management systems from scratch (preferred).
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including IP, mesh, and DDIL environments (preferred).
Experience with government acquisition processes, contract deliverables, and program reporting (preferred).
Familiarity with DevOps/SRE practices including CI/CD, monitoring, and incident management (preferred).
Prior military service or direct operational experience with DoD command and control systems (preferred).
