As a Senior Forward Deployed Software Engineer on the Strategic Defense team, you will support and deploy products early in their lifecycle to address critical needs in the integrated air and missile defense domain. You will be responsible for executing technical operations, performing field maintenance, providing customer training, and conducting root-cause analyses for systems in the field. Your daily work involves troubleshooting complex issues at the intersection of hardware, software, and networking within unstructured environments while collaborating with engineering teams to improve products. The role requires proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Rust, or Python, along with experience in frontend frameworks like React or Angular. You will also utilize skills in data processing, Kubernetes, and Linux systems to ensure high availability for mission-critical defense technologies involving autonomous systems and resilient mesh architectures.
Deploy and support Anduril products globally throughout their early lifecycle stages.
Execute technical operations, field maintenance, and customer training for military air defense projects.
Resolve complex hardware, software, and networking issues in unstructured environments.
Provide technical guidance to users and advise account managers on operational structures.
Communicate product refinement recommendations and field issue statuses to internal engineering teams.
Perform root-cause analyses and implement preventive measures following system incidents.
Maintain comprehensive documentation for hardware, software, and operational support plans.
What we're looking for
Ability to travel to the Asia Pacific region for up to one month at a time (up to 50% of the year).
Strong engineering background in fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
Experience working with programming languages including Go, Rust, or Python.
Experience working with frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
Experience building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis.
Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
5+ years of experience in problem solving in unstructured environments at the interface of hardware, software, and networking (preferred).
B.S. in computer science or related technical field; Network+ and Linux+ or equivalent; prior military/overseas contracting; and Kubernetes experience (preferred).
