The Senior Manager, Software Engineering leads the execution and evolution of large-scale payment platforms across multiple engineering teams within the UPP Payments team. What you'll do

  • Lead the execution and evolution of large-scale, highly available distributed payment platforms.
  • Drive architectural decisions for transaction routing, authorization, retries, and system resiliency.
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and production readiness across multiple teams.
  • Manage technical strategy for scalability, security, performance, and cloud cost optimization.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver complex initiatives meeting compliance and certification requirements.
  • Mentor engineers and establish metrics for platform health, latency, and transaction success.
  • Ensure payment solutions meet strict security and reliability standards in a regulated environment.

What we're looking for

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area and 2 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area (preferred).
  • Proven engineering leadership experience delivering large-scale, highly available distributed platforms in payments, fintech, retail, or transaction-intensive environments.
  • Strong understanding of the payment lifecycle, including authorization, capture, reversal, refund, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling.
  • Experience with payment routing, orchestration, failover, idempotency, gateways, processors, acquirers, issuers, card networks, tokenization, and PCI DSS.
  • Deep knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices (preferred).
