What you'll do

Manage and mentor a team of mechanical and thermal engineers focused on battery systems.
Own the mechanical architecture for high-voltage, high-energy-density battery packs including structural frames and sealing.
Oversee thermal management system designs such as passive, liquid-cooled, and phase-change materials.
Develop mitigation strategies for battery propagation and thermal runaway safety.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements for air, land, and sea product lines.
Execute design for manufacturability to transition products into high-rate production environments.
Define and execute mechanical and environmental qualification tests including shock, vibration, and thermal cycling.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in mechanical design focusing on high-voltage lithium-ion battery packs or energy storage systems.
3+ years of experience directly managing and leading engineering teams.
Proficiency with mechanical design tools such as NX or SolidWorks and PLM systems like Teamcenter.
Expertise in battery pack safety principles, including thermal runaway isolation, venting, and high-voltage isolation.
Hands-on experience with finite element analysis (FEA) for structural/vibration and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for thermal management.
Familiarity with battery standards and regulatory testing such as UN 38.3, NAVSEA SG IX, UL 2580, and DO-311.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
