What you'll do

Own the model quality of core Apple Intelligence features including Summarization and Smart Reply.
Design and develop the architecture of modeling pipelines for large-scale language models.
Develop workflows for data synthesis, curation, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
Define robust evaluation mechanisms to drive metric calibration and iterative model improvements.
Research and implement state-of-the-art SFT, PEFT, RLHF, and distillation techniques.
Implement pipelines and simulations to assess the impact of specific modeling changes.
Analyze user feedback to identify and address shortcomings in models and evaluation data.

What we're looking for

MS or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
History of shipping AI features built on language models.
Experience building and maintaining end-to-end model pipelines from data curation/synthesis to post-training.
Strong Python programming skills with experience developing production-quality modules.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
History of driving cross-functional collaborations and leading technical efforts (preferred).
Expertise in deploying models on-device, including reasoning about latency, activation size, quantization, and distillation (preferred).
Background in linguistics, fluency in multiple languages, or experience scaling NLP features for global audiences (preferred).
