As a Senior Language Engineer on the Copilot team, you will be responsible for how the personal AI product wields language. What you'll do

Craft and refine prompts used to steer, train, and evaluate language models for Copilot.
Create evaluation frameworks to measure technical performance and non-deterministic qualities like emotional intelligence.
Research and implement novel prompting techniques to improve model behavior.
Analyze large language datasets to identify issues and opportunities for improving response quality.
Manage project status by proactively identifying risks and proposing solutions to ensure timely delivery.
Develop LLM scorers and classifiers to evaluate the quality of model responses.
Implement context engineering improvements within code repositories to enhance Copilot's capabilities.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Philosophy, Linguistics, Psychology, Literature, or a related discipline.
1+ years of experience in context engineering with foundational software engineering knowledge.
3+ years of experience working in fast-paced environments while managing multiple priorities and changing deadlines.
Hands-on experience with prompt design, context window management, and model evaluation.
2+ years of experience shipping consumer-facing products and iteratively improving them based on user feedback.
1+ years of experience building LLM applications with familiarity in agent/orchestration frameworks and tool use.
Technical depth in software development, data science, and machine learning to contribute to code repositories and write evaluators.
