TL;DR · Senior Hardware Engineer, Network Technology and Design

Senior Hardware Engineer – Network Technology and Design joins the Network Technology and Design team within the compute and connectivity organization. This role leads the hardware development of wired connectivity technology, specifically focusing on Serializers/Deserializers and Ethernet-based network solutions for vehicle architecture. The engineer performs detailed hardware analysis including signal integrity, power integrity, and worst-case analysis while troubleshooting issues across electronic control units. Responsibilities include developing hardware requirements, test specifications, and execution strategies for component and board-level validation. Key technical skills required include circuit design, schematic creation, and PCB layout using tools like Mentor Graphics Xpedition or ORCAD, alongside proficiency with oscilloscopes and signal generators. The role addresses the critical challenge of integrating high-performance wired connectivity into automotive systems to ensure reliable communication across vehicle networks while managing technology roadmaps in collaboration with semiconductor partners.

What you'll do

  • Lead hardware development for wired connectivity technologies including SerDes and Ethernet-based network solutions.
  • Perform detailed hardware analysis including signal integrity, power integrity, and worst-case analysis for connectivity interfaces.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues and perform root cause analysis to implement long-term solutions across ECUs.
  • Develop hardware requirements and test specifications for SerDes/Ethernet connectivity and supporting circuitry.
  • Create a comprehensive test strategy covering component validation, board-level testing, and production readiness.
  • Execute bench tests including bring-up, characterization, and debugging of prototype and production-intent hardware.
  • Manage technology roadmaps in collaboration with semiconductor partners to ensure performance and scalability.

What we're looking for

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Computer Science.
  • Engineering experience at an OEM, semiconductor supplier, or Tier 1 ECU supplier.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in electronic hardware design and development.
  • Working knowledge of automotive electronic hardware and automotive software architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in circuit design, schematic creation, and PCB layout.
  • Experience with hardware design tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition and ORCAD.
  • Experience with lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and multimeters.
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred).
