As a Senior Firmware Validation Engineer within the FW CoE, you will support the development of next-generation hardware and firmware for Azure infrastructure. You will be involved in all phases of product development, from architectural design through firmware architecture and development. Your daily responsibilities include driving and leading execution of firmware integration and validation test plans, performing firmware level debug, and resolving complex hardware and software bugs. You will architect and implement test cases and frameworks to establish coverage while identifying gaps in testing execution. The role requires expertise in platform initialization, manageability, security, UEFI, BMC, and memory management. You will utilize skills in Python or similar languages for scripting. This role focuses on securing Azure infrastructure by developing firmware technologies for server, silicon, and rack systems across the entire data center platform.
Participate in all phases of product development from architectural design through firmware architecture and development.
Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance, fine-tune, and architect new hardware and software product solutions.
Drive, define, and lead the execution of firmware integration and validation test plans.
Perform firmware-level debug as part of end-to-end firmware development and troubleshooting.
Source, debug, and resolve complex hardware and software bugs.
Architect and implement test cases and frameworks to establish testing coverage.
Identify and address inefficiencies in testing execution and coverage gaps.
Manage project timelines, dependencies, and deliverables while mentoring peer team members.
What we're looking for
A Doctorate and 1+ years of experience, a Master's and 4+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's and 5+ years of experience in a related engineering field.
Equivalent professional experience to the specified degree and experience requirements is acceptable.
Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other required security screenings.
Experience with Platform Initialization, Manageability, Security, Motherboard, Drivers, UEFI, BMC, OS, Virtualization, Memory Management, RAS, and similar areas (preferred).
8+ years of professional experience designing, developing, or testing software and hardware from early concept to final product (preferred).
Experience in assessing coverage, debugging HW/SW issues, and writing scripts in Python or similar languages (preferred).
Experience with firmware development life cycle, including validation, integration, and implementing security primitives (preferred).
Experience designing data center class technologies and solving complex HW/FW interface issues (preferred).
