The Senior FinOps Engineer joins the FinOps organization to shape technology cost visibility, financial governance, and optimization strategies across public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises infrastructure. You will build and evolve reporting, allocation, forecasting, and governance processes while identifying opportunities for rightsizing, modernization, and commitment optimization. The role involves partnering with engineering, finance, and procurement teams to drive cost-aware decisions, manage showback models, and provide pre-deployment estimates for architecture trade-offs. Key responsibilities include managing costs for AI/ML domains like GPU and data platforms. You will utilize a technical stack including AWS, Azure, VMware, Nutanix, Cloudability, Apptio, Flexera, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Superset, Jira, and ServiceNow. The role requires expertise in REST APIs, scripting, and data pipelines to automate cost management and improve metadata quality across diverse environments.
Build and evolve technology cost visibility and optimization capabilities across public cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Develop and maintain reporting, allocation, forecasting, and governance processes for infrastructure spend.
Execute rightsizing, modernization, scheduling, and commitment optimization to improve lifecycle efficiency.
Improve metadata, tagging, and cost attribution quality to support showback and chargeback models.
Analyze and communicate cost anomalies, trend drivers, and variance explanations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Provide pre-deployment cost estimates and evaluate architecture trade-offs for workload placement.
Develop automation, APIs, and internal tooling for cost management and reporting.
Manage cost visibility and governance for high-growth areas like AI/ML and GPU infrastructure.
What we're looking for
5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud/platform operations, FinOps, or technology cost management.
Strong understanding of AWS and Azure along with familiarity with private cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Experience with cost management, billing, reporting, and optimization tooling across cloud and enterprise environments.
Proficiency in Python and SQL for automation, analysis, and reporting.
Experience building dashboards and analyses for engineering, finance, and leadership stakeholders.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, allocation, and showback/chargeback concepts.
Ability to communicate cost, performance, and resiliency tradeoffs between technical and financial audiences.
FinOps Foundation or AWS/Azure certifications (preferred); experience with hybrid infrastructure, commitment strategies, or AI/ML platform cost management (preferred).
