The Senior Business Systems Engineer, AI Capability Lead serves as the primary technology point of coordination for Medical Affairs and Health Impact (MHI) business areas regarding AI-related capabilities. This role provides independent leadership to translate complex business problems into scalable technical solutions while maintaining the integrated MHI AI technology roadmap. The individual will collaborate with architects, platform teams, and engineering groups to evaluate build, buy, or reuse options that align with enterprise standards for security, privacy, and compliance. Key competencies include a working knowledge of generative AI, large language models, agentic workflows, machine learning concepts, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt engineering, and model evaluation. The role focuses on solving business challenges by identifying process improvements and ensuring the adoption of reusable services to avoid duplicative solutions within the MHI domain while navigating technical dependencies and risk management.
Translate business problems and opportunities into scalable technology capabilities and solution options.
Own and maintain the integrated MHI AI technology roadmap as a primary planning artifact.
Identify process improvements, reuse opportunities, and risks related to data, security, and compliance.
Ensure all AI solutions align with enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and reusable services.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal development teams and architects regarding AI initiatives.
Provide guidance to stakeholders on where AI is appropriate and how it should align with company platforms.
Monitor emerging AI technologies and translate them into practical opportunities for the business.
Conduct feasibility assessments and provide high-quality recommendations to support business justification and prioritization.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree with 8 years’ experience, Master's Degree with 7 years’ experience, or PhD with 3 years’ experience.
Relevant experience in business systems engineering, technology capability leadership, enterprise platforms, solution delivery, or related IT roles.
Experience exercising independent judgment in solution shaping, technical problem solving, feasibility assessment, and risk identification.
Ability to translate complex business problems into technology capabilities, architecture considerations, functional requirements, and delivery approaches.
Working knowledge of generative AI, LLMs, machine learning, RAG, prompt engineering, and AI-enabled workflow automation.
Knowledge of data readiness, APIs, enterprise integration, responsible AI, security, privacy, and compliance.
Ability to collaborate with architects, developers, and platform teams to evaluate solutions and translate between business and technical stakeholders.
Ability to develop and maintain a technology roadmap while promoting enterprise reuse and scalability.
