Senior Backend Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Drive automation and centralization across partner pricing and billing systems.
• Build and extend reconciliation systems to ensure pricing and billing accuracy.
• Design and implement automated controls to support compliance and financial integrity.
• Design and build end-to-end features for pricing and billing services.
• Improve the resilience and scalability of systems supporting external partners.
• Develop auditable and performant systems using Kafka, MongoDB, and MariaDB.
• Take ownership of technical deliverables from initial design through to production.
• Participate in on-call support and active incident resolution for your area.

What we're looking for

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and a track record of contributing significantly to impactful projects.
• Experience with Java or a similar object-oriented programming language.
• Ability to design systems with a long-term approach using patterns that allow for safe iteration and scaling.
• Accountability for the availability, reliability, and security of built systems.
• Ability to address technical debt pragmatically and plan work within an appropriate risk appetite.
• Commitment to engineering best practices across observability, security, testing, and responsible data usage.
• Experience in payments, fintech, billing, or another regulated financial domain (preferred).
• Experience with event-driven architectures, reconciliation systems, or configuration-heavy domains (preferred).
