The Senior AI/Machine Learning Specialist joins an internal incubator to build a new-to-the-world AI architecture and technical category. As a hands-on senior individual contributor, technical lead, and software architect, you will transform Python research implementations into scalable, production-grade systems. Key responsibilities include shaping the Rust architecture, making concurrency and parallelization decisions, and building critical components for real-time inference, cloud services, and embedded environments. You will work with researchers on mathematical representations, activation dynamics, and causal structures while establishing behavioral-equivalence and reliability testing. Required skills include proficiency in Rust, C++, and Python, along with experience in high-performance computing, symbolic AI, and distributed systems. You will also manage CI/CD, containerization, and observability while mentoring early-career developers within a modular, interface-driven architecture.
Translate experimental Python research code into reliable, maintainable, and high-performance Rust components.
Architect and implement scalable runtime components for real-time inference, cloud services, and embedded environments.
Make technical decisions regarding concurrency, parallel execution, memory management, and distributed processing.
Work with researchers to implement mathematical representations, activation dynamics, and causal structures within system components.
Establish testing protocols for behavioral equivalence, determinism, reproducibility, and performance between research and production.
Profile CPU, memory, and latency to identify bottlenecks and implement measurable performance improvements.
Build observability, CI/CD, containerization, and deployment capabilities for cloud and on-premises environments.

What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant STEM field or a High School Diploma/GED.
Must have ten years of professional software-development experience building production systems.
Must have five years of experience building, scaling, or productionizing complex software, research systems, or high-performance computing applications.
Must have five years of experience productionizing research, scientific, simulation, compiler, or algorithm-intensive software.
Demonstrated production experience with Rust, or substantial C++ experience with a commitment to develop in Rust (preferred).
Strong Python skills and experience translating Python algorithms or prototypes into production software (preferred).
Exposure to symbolic AI, neural-symbolic systems, cognitive architectures, or reinforcement learning (preferred).
Experience designing concurrent, parallel, performance-sensitive, or distributed systems (preferred).
