The SDET / Test Engineering Lead joins the Shared Service Operations Technology team to lead quality engineering, test automation, and data validation for the SSOADS platform. This role involves defining quality strategies for enterprise data products, including data pipelines, data lakes, and warehouses. The individual will build automated testing frameworks for batch, streaming, and event-driven processing while establishing standards for data reconciliation, conformance, and reporting. Key responsibilities include managing test execution, defect triage, and CI/CD integration to ensure the integrity of cloud-native data solutions. The role requires proficiency in Python, Java, SQL, and Apache Spark, alongside experience with BigQuery, GCS, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, and Pub/Sub. The work focuses on solving complex problems related to data ingestion, transformation, and regulatory reporting within large-scale big data ecosystems and cloud-native analytics environments.
Lead quality engineering strategy and governance for enterprise-scale data platforms and pipelines.
Define and implement testing frameworks for batch, streaming, and event-driven data processing.
Establish automation standards for data validation, reconciliation, and regression testing.
Develop automated validation solutions for GCP services including BigQuery, Dataproc, and Spark.
Implement Data Quality practices to ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of data.
Integrate automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.
Design strategies for performance, scalability, and resiliency testing of data workloads.
Mentor a team of SDETs and QA engineers while promoting an automation-first culture.
What we're looking for
5+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent through work, training, military service, or education.
5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Data Testing, or Test Automation.
5+ years of experience leading QA teams or test strategy initiatives.
5+ years of experience testing ETL/ELT pipelines, Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and Big Data platforms.
5+ years of experience validating large-scale datasets in BigQuery, Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar platforms.
5+ years of experience with test automation using Python and/or Java.
2+ years of experience working with Apache Spark and distributed data processing validation.
Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (preferred); knowledge of data quality methodologies (preferred); experience with GCP, Iceberg, or Kubernetes (preferred).
