JOB TITLE: SDE II - Network Observability, Leo Networking Software The SDE II - Network Observability, Leo Networking Software joins the Leo Network Observability, Visibility & Analytics team to build systems providing end-to-end insight into a global satellite telecom network. You will design and operate high-scale distributed systems that transform telemetry, network events, traces, and operational signals into actionable visibility across satellites, customer terminals, gateways, and terrestrial infrastructure. Daily responsibilities include building real-time data pipelines, developing algorithms for failure detection and localization, and creating APIs, dashboards, and analytical tools. You will utilize C#, C++, Java, or Perl to solve complex networking problems involving multi-hop paths and intermittent connectivity. This role focuses on establishing observability foundations for a highly distributed network where failures can span space and ground infrastructure, requiring expertise in distributed systems and large-scale analytics.

What you'll do

Design and develop scalable network observability, telemetry, and analytics systems for space and terrestrial infrastructure.
Build real-time pipelines to ingest and correlate high-volume network telemetry, events, traces, and health signals.
Develop algorithms for end-to-end network visibility, including failure detection, localization, and impact analysis.
Design distributed systems to process large volumes of telemetry with high availability and low latency.
Develop APIs, dashboards, and analytical tools to expose network health and operational insights to internal customers.
Establish metrics, service-level indicators, and automated detection mechanisms for critical network components.
Design resilient systems capable of handling intermittent connectivity, partial failures, and delayed telemetry.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle including architecture, testing, deployment, and on-call support.

What we're looking for

Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
1+ years of experience developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
