RFIC Layout Designer (Starshield Silicon) joins the Starshield team to support advanced development programs for U.S. National Security, specifically focusing on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. Working within the IC design team, the designer leads the layout discipline for multiple silicon projects requiring high integration, low power, and mixed signal architectures for space and ground infrastructures. Key responsibilities include determining chip floor plans, performing layout for custom RF and analog circuit blocks, and executing top-level integration including density fill and tape out. The role requires proficiency in advanced node IC layouts like 16nm, 7nm, and 5nm, as well as experience with frequencies up to 50GHz. Required skills include analog layout, Linux, and scripting in Perl or Python, alongside knowledge of device matching and noise isolation.
Determine chip floor plans including power and ground distribution and pad locations.
Estimate layout schedules and identify complex areas requiring early investigation.
Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks while minimizing parasitic capacitance.
Execute design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks.
Perform top-level layout integration, density fill, and final tape out for the foundry.
Trial new tools and features in collaboration with EDA suppliers.
Generate guides and demos to showcase improvements in layout techniques.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering or 3+ years of professional experience with integrated circuit layout design in lieu of a degree.
1+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
Strong analog layout skills (preferred).
Experience in advanced node IC layouts such as 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below (preferred).
Experience in layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz (preferred).
Experience in layout of sensitive RF blocks such as low noise amplifiers, voltage-controlled oscillators and mixers (preferred).
Experience with skill programming, shell scripting, Perl, Python, or managing revision control systems (preferred).
