RFIC Layout Designer (RFIC Engineering) The RFIC Layout Designer joins the IC design team to support multiple silicon projects focused on mixed signal architectures, lower power, and advanced silicon technology for space and ground infrastructures. In this role, you will lead the layout discipline by collaborating with RFIC and mixed signal designers on full chip layouts for custom analog and RFIC designs. Key responsibilities include determining chip floor plans, estimating schedules, performing layout for RF and analog blocks with a focus on matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance, and conducting design rule checking. You will perform top-level layout integration, including density fill and tape out. Required skills include analog layout experience, knowledge of Linux, and proficiency in shell scripting, Perl, or Python. Experience with advanced nodes like 7nm or 5nm is preferred.

What you'll do

Determine chip floor plans including power and ground distribution strategies and pad locations.
Estimate layout work schedules and identify complex areas requiring early investigation.
Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks while minimizing parasitic capacitance.
Execute design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks.
Perform top-level layout integration, density fill, and final tape out for the foundry.
Trial new tools and features in collaboration with EDA suppliers.
Generate guides and demos to showcase improvements in layout techniques to the team.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering and 1+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer.
3+ years of professional experience with integrated circuit layout design in lieu of a degree.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
Strong analog layout skills (preferred).
Experience in advanced node IC layouts such as 22nm, 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below (preferred).
Experience in layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz (preferred).
Experience in layout of sensitive RF blocks such as LNAs, VCOs, and mixers (preferred).
Experience with skill programming, shell scripting, Perl, Python, or managing revision control systems (preferred).
