The Sr. RFIC Layout Designer (RFIC Engineering) joins the IC design team to support multiple silicon projects focused on high integration, low power, and mixed signal architectures for space and ground infrastructures. In this role, you will lead the layout discipline by collaborating with RFIC and mixed signal designers on full chip layout for custom analog and RFIC designs. Key responsibilities include determining chip floor plans, performing layout for RF and analog blocks with a focus on matching and minimizing parasitic capacitance, and executing top-level integration including ESD structures and final tape out. You will utilize skills in advanced node IC layouts down to 5nm, frequencies up to 50GHz, and tools including Linux, Python, Perl, and shell scripting to solve complex technical problems.

What you'll do

Determine chip floor plans including power and ground distribution strategies with designers and packaging engineers.
Estimate layout schedules and identify complex areas requiring early technical investigation.
Perform layout of custom RF and analog circuit blocks while minimizing parasitic capacitance and ensuring matching.
Execute design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout versus schematic checks to resolve errors.
Perform top-level layout integration including ESD structures, pad assembly, and final tape out.
Trial new tools and features by working directly with EDA suppliers.
Generate guides and demos to showcase layout technique improvements to the rest of the team.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering and 5+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer.
8+ years of professional experience with integrated circuit layout design in lieu of a degree.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
Strong analog layout skills (preferred).
Experience in advanced node IC layouts such as 22nm, 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below (preferred).
Experience in layout of circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz (preferred).
Experience in layout of sensitive RF blocks such as LNAs, VCOs, and mixers (preferred).
Experience with skill programming, shell scripting, Perl, Python, or managing revision control systems (preferred).
