The RF Systems Engineer joins the Rescue 21 program to serve as a technical team lead for a small group of engineers. This role focuses on the maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle sustainment of a mission-critical Land Mobile Radio system. Daily responsibilities include performing failure analysis, leading requirements and performance analysis, and executing test plans to ensure system reliability. The engineer will utilize RF test equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Sources, and Power Meters, alongside coverage analysis software and MATLAB. Key technical tasks involve managing VHF/UHF radios, antenna performance, and interference mitigation. The position requires collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing remote technical support to Field Service Representatives to solve complex problems within a nationally deployed government communication system.
Lead and mentor a small team of RF engineers on the maintenance and sustainment of Land Mobile Radio systems.
Perform failure analysis, root cause investigation, and implement corrective actions for RF systems.
Conduct requirements, functional, and performance analysis for system design, integration, and verification.
Design and execute test plans and procedures to ensure system accuracy and reliability.
Provide remote technical support to Field Service Representatives for hardware troubleshooting and test execution.
Evaluate product specifications and vendor capabilities to support long-term product lifecycle planning.

What we're looking for
U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
Experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system maintenance and troubleshooting.
Experience leading engineering failure analysis, experimental testing, and results evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Proficiency with RF test equipment (e.g., Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Sources, Power Meters, Communication Analyzers) (preferred).
