Research Scientist Level 4 - Devens will join the Xinetics program team to support the development of advanced optical products and systems. The role involves leading or supporting ceramic research efforts through formulation development, material fabrication, and the execution of test procedures for functional and structural ceramics. Day-to-day responsibilities include synthesizing materials, designing experiments, characterizing properties, performing root cause analysis for manufacturing issues, and documenting technical work for stakeholders. The position requires expertise in characterization methods such as XRD, EDS, SEM, PSD, TGA, FTIR, and GC/MS. Candidates should possess skills in MATLAB or Mathematica and have experience with Lead Magnesium Niobate and electrostrictive actuators. What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Ceramic Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Nine years of experience with synthesis, processing, and/or characterization of ferroelectric materials (seven years with a master's degree or four years with a PhD).
Proficiency in analytical methods such as XRD, EDS, SEM, PSD, TGA, FTIR, and GC/MS.
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines in addition to materials science.
Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project software.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance.
