R&D Engineering Technician

What you'll do

• Build and test new optical systems for airborne, maritime, and space platforms.
• Fabricate and assemble high-quality, reliable electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Develop and implement integration and test fixtures while monitoring and reporting results.
• Manage internal prototyping resources including mechanical and electrical fabrication equipment.
• Oversee the rapid prototyping process from initial design to final execution.
• Manage R&D space from both a facilities and organizational standpoint.
• Troubleshoot complex wiring harnesses, cables, and electronic components.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 4 years experience as a technician working on complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to work through R&D tasks with limited oversight including evaluation, design, ordering materials, and execution.
• Experience building and troubleshooting cables and wiring harnesses.
• Proficiency in soldering, crimping, and assembling cables and connectors.
• Basic electrical understanding including Ohm's Law, voltage drop calculations, and wire sizing based on amperage.
• Ability to take ownership of the entire rapid prototyping process from start to finish.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Experience with optical systems alignment, 3D printing, manual machine tools, test equipment, and CAD/scripting software (preferred).
