Quantum Security Intern, Cloud Compliance & Security Tooling

What you'll do

• Assess IBM Cloud account configurations against internal and industry compliance frameworks to identify security gaps.
• Design, build, and enhance automated scripts and dashboards to monitor cloud compliance in real time.
• Support the remediation of identified security and compliance findings with infrastructure engineering teams.
• Improve existing security tools and workflows to reduce manual effort and expand coverage.
• Document security controls, compliance evidence, and technical runbooks for internal audits.
• Evaluate and pilot new security and compliance tools in partnership with other IBM departments.
• Present findings, tooling improvements, and recommendations to the team during the internship.

What we're looking for

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related technical field.
• Foundational understanding of cloud security concepts including IAM, encryption, network security, and logging/monitoring.
• Working knowledge of at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Go, or Bash.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, or GCP and their security features.
• Exposure to compliance frameworks or standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or CIS Benchmarks (preferred).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD tools, or quantum computing projects (preferred).
