Principal Research Scientist

What you'll do

• Lead end-to-end incubations from early ideation and prototyping to full deployment.
• Drive advances in applied ML research to address strategic company-wide priorities.
• Develop novel ML modeling approaches and architectures to unlock new product capabilities.
• Partner with software, hardware, and design teams to shape product direction and technical strategy.
• Deliver scalable ML technologies that provide high-impact user experiences across Apple platforms.
• Apply state-of-the-art ML research and agentic systems to solve complex technical challenges.
• Publish research findings and engage with the broader academic community.

What we're looking for

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Equivalent track record of incubating and shipping ML features, platforms, and products.
• 5+ years of industry experience working within an ML team.
• Deep understanding of the ML model lifecycle for large-scale systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in ML with a publication record in relevant conferences.
• Proficient modeling skills with deep familiarity with JAX, PyTorch, and/or Tensorflow.
• Demonstrated ability to influence high-level architecture decisions and advocate for novel research directions (preferred).
• Exceptional communication skills to translate complex technical work for a broad audience (preferred).
