Principal UX Engineer, Ads joins the Ads Design & Research team to shape the end-to-end advertising experience across advertiser tools, consumer experiences, and measurement systems. This strategic role sits at the intersection of design and engineering, where you will define the UX Engineering strategy, build high-quality functional prototypes, create reusable components, and develop AI-native workflows and agents. You will work to move projects from exploration to production-ready states while improving interaction quality, accessibility, and performance. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in React and TypeScript, along with a strong grasp of systems thinking and advanced prototyping workflows. You will navigate complex, ambiguous opportunities by collaborating with cross-functional partners to build tools that help teams test assumptions faster. This role focuses on solving technical challenges within the advertising ecosystem through sophisticated interactive products and infrastructure.
Define and lead the UX Engineering strategy across multiple areas of Reddit Ads.
Build high-quality functional prototypes, workflow tools, and PR-ready product experiences for team exploration.
Create reusable tools, systems, components, and workflows to streamline the transition from design to production.
Develop AI-native workflows, skills, agents, and tools to improve how teams prototype and ship products.
Improve interaction quality, accessibility, performance, and technical craft across the Ads experience.
Mentor other practitioners and establish UX Engineering as a core capability across the organization.
Partner with cross-functional leaders to provide clarity on complex, ambiguous product opportunities.
What we're looking for
Deep experience at the intersection of product design and engineering building sophisticated interactive products.
Strong hands-on expertise with modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
Experience building production-adjacent prototypes, internal tools, systems, or frontend infrastructure for others to use.
Proven ability to turn complex ideas into intuitive, high-quality experiences through strong product and interaction judgment.
Experience working across multiple teams or product areas to influence product direction beyond a single project.
Strong systems thinking with experience creating reusable patterns, platforms, or tools.
Fluency with AI-assisted coding, agents, and advanced prototyping workflows.
A portfolio demonstrating technical architecture, systems thinking, and collaboration with engineering teams (preferred); experience in advertising (preferred).
