Principal SRE

What you'll do

• Set the direction for reliability, scale, and performance engineering for the firm's most important systems.
• Manage the development of team members by providing resources, sponsorship, and growth opportunities for engineers and leaders.
• Guide executive decisions regarding reliability posture, investment trade-offs, risk acceptance, and architectural direction.
• Lead complex, cross-line-of-business initiatives for SRE design, scaling, and resilience of mission-critical production systems.
• Implement innovative methods and evaluation criteria to measure and improve reliability across complex business and technology issues.
• Own the SRE technical bar by defending hiring and promotion standards and enforcing firmwide technical competencies.
• Champion a culture of innovation by normalizing blameless post-mortems, engineering rigor, and continuous improvement.
• Manage multiple senior stakeholders and distributed teams to balance delivery, reliability, and people outcomes.

What we're looking for

• Demonstrated experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate, and solve complex technological issues firmwide.
• Proven experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent while building durable pipelines of engineering and leadership capability.
• Prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale.
• Experience leading complex projects supporting SRE design, scaling, resilience, and system performance assessments.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and teams simultaneously.
• Meets the firm's SREM05 Bar Raiser standard across all four SRE competencies and is credible acting as a Bar Raiser.
• Experience supporting mission-critical systems in a production environment (preferred).
• Prior service as an SRE Bar Raiser or equivalent responsibility for setting and defending technical standards (preferred).
