As a Principal Sourcing Engineer within the Global Supplier Optimization team, you will lead, direct, and execute cross-functional projects to drive strategic decisions and manage business risks. You will be responsible for executing supplier transfer projects on schedule while enhancing supplier capabilities through Lean Six Sigma methodologies to ensure value stream stability and eliminate waste. Your daily work involves managing project timelines, budgets, and resource requirements while collaborating with R&D, Supply Chain, and Operations teams. The role requires technical expertise in plastics processing, injection molding, and extrusions, alongside proficiency in MS Project and PowerPoint. You will solve complex supply chain challenges by conducting supplier design reviews, performing phase-in/phase-out planning, and implementing robust risk management techniques to ensure quality improvement and cost reduction for medical technology products.
Lead, direct, and execute cross-functional projects to drive strategic decisions and manage business risks.
Manage supplier transfer projects ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.
Implement Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve process capability, optimize lead times, and eliminate waste.
Drive supplier optimization initiatives focused on supply chain resilience, cost reduction, and continuous quality improvement.
Develop and document project strategies including detailed schedules, key performance indicators (KPIs), and budget tracking.
Conduct supplier design reviews to identify and mitigate test coverage gaps and manufacturing defects.
Execute phase-in/phase-out (PIPO) planning for assigned supplier transfer projects.
Establish measurement and reporting frameworks to communicate project progress and risks to stakeholders.
What we're looking for
A Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience, a Master's with 5 years, or a PhD with 3 years in plastics processing and supplier qualification is required.
Experience in managing site-to-site transfer projects in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma tools and structured problem-solving techniques is required.
Expertise in project management, including financial accountability and tracking spend, is preferred.
PMP certification is preferred.
Knowledge of injection molding or extrusions is preferred.
Experience in supplier quality is preferred.
Work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.
