Principal Software Engineer, AI Safety and Security

What you'll do

• Design and implement shared platform capabilities including architecture decisions, engineering patterns, and production code.
• Build AI observability and monitoring systems for attack reconstruction, automated detection, and threat hunting.
• Develop detection infrastructure for attack signatures, behavioral anomalies, and model-assisted analysis.
• Build large-scale distributed data processing systems using Spark, Kusto, and streaming platforms to process multi-source telemetry.
• Lead technical partner conversations and conduct security and privacy architecture reviews for complex systems.
• Translate security research into practical detection, evaluation, and safer implementation patterns.
• Mentor engineers and scientists while reviewing designs and code to maintain high technical standards.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to pass Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background checks.
• 2+ years of experience working on modern AI systems like LLM applications, agent orchestration, or vector databases (preferred).
• 2+ years of experience in big data engineering including Spark, Kusto, data lakes, and streaming pipelines (preferred).
• Experience leading security and privacy architecture reviews using threat modeling and secure-by-design principles (preferred).
• Experience with cloud-native distributed platforms, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, Kubernetes, or similar systems (preferred).
• Proven technical leadership, system design, and mentoring skills in cross-functional environments (preferred).
