What you'll do

  • Build and harden the Runtime Policy Verifier including signed policy bundle verification and trust-root handling.
  • Implement deterministic projections from canonical policies into runtime-specific formats like OpenShell-native policies.
  • Create comprehensive conformance suites, including fuzzing and property tests, to ensure runtime compliance.
  • Define architecture standards for versioning, schema compatibility, latency budgets, and fail-closed defaults.
  • Author technical specifications and defend security claims during architectural reviews with Product Security and Identity teams.
  • Develop public interfaces for runtime context attestation, adapter paths, and session hooks as RFCs or PRs.
  • Manage the lifecycle of policy infrastructure including revocation checks, rollback protection, and authorization APIs.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in systems software, security engineering, distributed systems, or policy infrastructure.
  • 15+ years of industry experience in systems software, security engineering, distributed systems, or policy infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Rust, Go, C++, or Python.
  • Experience designing production services, APIs, schemas, policy engines, authorization systems, or signed artifact pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems, IPC, gRPC/protobuf, CI, test automation, and cloud or enterprise deployment environments.
  • Practical experience with cryptographic signatures, trust roots, revocation, and zero-trust architecture patterns.
  • Ability to write technical specifications and lead cross-team architectural alignment for complex engineering projects.
  • Preferred experience with OPA/Rego, Cedar, Zanzibar-style authorization, or supply chain security tools like Sigstore and TUF.
