Principal Software Architect, Finance Technology Platform

What you'll do

• Define and govern the end-to-end architecture for a multi-tenant, AI-native finance platform at enterprise scale.
• Design a shared canonical data model and orchestration engine to allow teams to onboard financial flows via configuration.
• Architect the agentic framework for AI agents to perform transaction intake, validation, matching, and settlement.
• Build the agent harness infrastructure including graph-based orchestration, memory systems, and structured output validation.
• Establish safety disciplines including golden datasets, confidence thresholds, and guardrails against injection via external documents.
• Set core platform patterns such as saga-based orchestration and versioned business rules as configuration.
• Own financial correctness by designing immutable event histories, exactly-once settlement, and auditable SOX controls.
• Serve as the senior technical voice to align architecture across Finance, Controllership, Tax, and Audit leadership.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including deep expertise in architecting large-scale distributed transactional systems.
• Demonstrated experience as the lead architect of a platform used by multiple engineering teams featuring multi-tenancy and versioned APIs.
• Hands-on experience building AI-native applications in production, including agent runtimes, tool calling, and graph-based orchestration.
• Practical depth in the modern agentic stack, including retrieval/vector search, embeddings, and model evaluation at production scale.
• Experience designing evaluation, guardrail, and human-in-the-loop strategies for AI systems operating on consequential decisions.
• Strong foundation in event-driven architecture, saga orchestration, streaming platforms, and transactional data stores.
• Experience with enterprise financial domains such as ledgers, payables, receivables, settlement, or high-volume financial event processing.
• Experience with regulated, audited, or high-trust systems and their compliance implications.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of experience, with a portion spent architecting finance, accounting, or payments platforms at global scale (preferred).
• Deep functional knowledge of one or more financial lifecycles end-to-end, including tax determination and period close (preferred).
• Experience extending or decomposing monolithic enterprise systems into service-based platforms while the business ran uninterrupted (preferred).
• Experience designing sub-ledger layers, multi-GAAP reporting, and multi-entity/multi-currency processing (preferred).
• Experience building agentic systems that take real-world actions with money, contracts, or regulated data (preferred).
• Experience with ML for finance, such as anomaly detection, fraud detection, and transaction classification (preferred).
