The Principal Platform Software Engineer joins the OCI Log Analytics team to shape the architecture, query language, and distributed execution platform for a cloud-scale observability service. You will lead the design and development of query-language capabilities, including parsing, planning, and optimization, while building scalable systems to execute advanced analytics and machine-learning algorithms across terabytes of data. Key responsibilities include developing AI agents and agentic workflows to automate large-scale log investigations and troubleshooting. You will utilize Java and Python to architect secure, multi-tenant cloud services with high fault tolerance. The role requires expertise in distributed computing, system reliability, and performance optimization. You will also work with technologies such as Kafka, Lucene, Solr, Spark, Parquet, Kubernetes, and Terraform to solve complex data processing problems.
Lead the architecture, design, and development of OCI Log Analytics query-language capabilities.
Build scalable systems to execute advanced analytics and machine-learning algorithms across terabytes of data.
Design and develop AI agents and agentic workflows to translate user intent into effective queries.
Architect secure, resilient, multi-tenant cloud services with automated recovery and fault tolerance.
Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks across query execution, indexing, storage, and analytics pipelines.
Develop load, stress, fault-injection, and performance tests to validate system behavior at scale.
Lead root-cause analysis of complex production issues and participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Six or more years of software engineering experience, including designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
Strong programming expertise in Java, Python, or both.
Experience building cloud-scale, multi-tenant products or services that support high-throughput, concurrent processing.
Strong understanding of distributed computing, large-scale data processing, system reliability, performance optimization, and the service development lifecycle.
Demonstrated ability to design systems for scalability, elasticity, availability, durability, security, and cost efficiency.
Familiarity with modern AI-assisted software development and practical understanding of large language models, AI agents, and interoperability protocols.
Ability to work on-site in Nashville, Tennessee, Monday through Friday, and participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
