Principal Architect, Distributed Systems & Secure AI

What you'll do

• Define the end-to-end reference architecture for agent authentication, authorization, and lifecycle management across the platform.
• Select and evaluate technical frameworks, protocols, and policy engines to support secure multi-agent systems at scale.
• Design security architectures for agent-to-system interactions including identity management, credential mediation, and runtime isolation.
• Embed privacy-by-design and compliance requirements directly into the core architecture to meet regulatory expectations.
• Lead architectural reviews to ensure all new capabilities meet standards for scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency.
• Mentor senior engineers and architects while elevating security and privacy proficiency across the engineering organization.
• Create technical documentation, decision records, and threat models for both implementation teams and executive leadership.
• Represent Adobe’s agentic AI governance posture to executive leadership, enterprise customers, and regulatory bodies.

What we're looking for

• Over 20 years of experience in software engineering or security architecture.
• Expertise in distributed systems, platform engineering, and enterprise-scale access control.
• Deep understanding of agentic AI patterns including orchestration, tool calling, and reasoning loops.
• Expert knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) and policy-as-code engines like OPA or Cedar.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across security, product, legal, and infrastructure teams.
• Experience with privacy and compliance frameworks relevant to AI systems and automated decision-making.
• Experience building or governing developer platforms, cloud-native services, or streaming data platforms at scale.
• An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Security, or a related technical field is preferred.
