As a Powertrain Controls Software Engineering Intern, you will join a global development team to support the creation of powertrain and connected software solutions for automotive embedded control systems. Your daily responsibilities include performing rapid-prototyping to support functional requirements, developing manual and model-based code, and conducting deep-dive analyses to improve hardware-software interfaces. You will develop automated test software, debug issues, and validate new features using Hardware-in-the-Loop, Software-in-the-Loop, and Model-in-the-Loop methods. The role requires proficiency in C, embedded C, and Matlab/Simulink, while utilizing AUTOSAR standards and micro-controllers. You will work on technical problems involving vehicle control units, propulsion control units, and transmission control units for electric, hybrid, and combustion engines across various environmental conditions.
Perform rapid-prototyping to support the development of functional requirements.
Develop manual and model-based code according to specific technical requirements.
Analyze hardware-software interfaces and develop automated test software for software testing.
Test and validate new software features using HiL, SiL, MiL, and engine dynamometer environments.
Debug and troubleshoot software issues within embedded control systems.
Participate in program reviews, interface studies, and design review meetings.
Support customer test trips in extreme environments and provide local software expertise.
What we're looking for
Must be currently enrolled in a university pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
Must have completed at least one semester of the required major.
Must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be an indefinitely U.S. work authorized individual.
Senior or Master Level students (preferred).
1+ year of academic or industry experience with software languages and operating systems like C, embedded C, or real-time OS (preferred).
1+ year of academic or industry experience with software development and debugging tools like MATLab/Simulink (preferred).
