Power Electronics Engineer (Starship) joins the Starship electrical hardware development team to build high-reliability electronics for rockets and spacecraft. The role involves driving system trades, requirements capture, component selection, schematic capture, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, and manufacturing. Specifically, the engineer will design, analyze, and test DC-DC power converters and power distribution products for harsh environments while collaborating with other departments to improve efficiency and reliability. Key technical skills include experience with circuit board layout, switching power converters, power magnetics, analog control loops, solid state load switches, motor inverters, EMI/EMC compliance, and sensor signal conditioning. Additional expertise includes high voltage devices, lithium ion batteries, power distribution optimization, and modeling or simulation of power electronics. What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar discipline.
1+ years of experience designing, building, or testing circuit boards or other electronics.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (or eligible for such status).
Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (preferred).
Experience with circuit board layout, switching power converters, high-speed digital applications, and power electronics modeling/simulation (preferred).
Experience with high voltage devices, lithium ion batteries, magnetics, and spacecraft electrical power systems (preferred).
Experience with automation of hardware development functions through scripting (preferred).
Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines.
