TL;DR · Power Control Systems Engineer, Platform Architecture

The Power Control Systems Engineer - Platform Architecture joins the hardware team to design and evolve power control systems across multiple product features. This role focuses on evolving architecture to extend battery life while meeting device power and thermal constraints across various timescales. The engineer will collect and analyze real-world workload data, apply control theory and estimation techniques including multi-timescale constraint handling, and prototype data-driven or predictive approaches to power allocation. Collaborating with systems and software teams, the individual will characterize performance profiles and debug complex issues in simulation, bench, and field environments. Required skills include proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Bash, or Python, along with expertise in classical or modern control theory, system identification, signal processing, and AI tools to solve critical power management problems within the device ecosystem.

What you'll do

  • Design and evolve power control algorithms across multiple product features and platforms.
  • Analyze real-world workload data to identify improvements in architecture and algorithm performance.
  • Apply control theory and estimation techniques to solve novel system problems involving multi-timescale constraints.
  • Lead cross-functional characterization of power and performance profiles with systems and software teams.
  • Prototype and evaluate data-driven and predictive approaches for power allocation.
  • Debug and resolve complex power control issues across simulation, bench, and field environments.
  • Mentor junior engineers on control system design and debugging practices.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience with control system design in areas such as Classical/Modern Control Theory, System Identification, Estimation Theory, Signal Processing, or multi-timescale constraint handling.
  • Experience with AI tools.
  • MS or PhD in ME, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience (preferred).
  • Experience implementing control systems in embedded microcontroller environments (preferred).
  • Experience applying data-driven or machine-learning approaches to power allocation, predictive analytics, or constraint prediction (preferred).
