Postgres Database Engineer

What you'll do

• Architect the global PostgreSQL platform strategy including high availability, disaster recovery, and security hardening.
• Design and implement large-scale Postgres-on-Kubernetes deployments using operators like CloudNativePG or Patroni.
• Develop autonomous tools for self-healing failover and automated maintenance tasks using LLM-augmented logic.
• Create Infrastructure-as-Code modules using Ansible to automate database management.
• Build predictive capacity alerts and observability integrations for thousands of database instances.
• Mentor engineers through weekly architecture reviews and technical guidance.
• Represent PostgreSQL platform requirements during executive planning and vendor negotiations.

What we're looking for

• 10–14 years of IT infrastructure or platform engineering experience, or 7+ years with exceptional depth in production scale.
• 6+ years of production PostgreSQL at scale including partitioning, logical replication, connection pooling, and performance tuning.
• 3+ years of Kubernetes for stateful workloads including operators, persistent storage design, and multi-cluster patterns.
• 3+ years building automation frameworks in Python, Go, or Bash to author infrastructure.
• Proven track record of designing and developing Database as a service.
• Experience with pgVector production for high-dimension embedding workloads (preferred).
• Experience with agentic coding, LLM-augmented operations, or autonomous remediation (preferred).
• Contributions to PostgreSQL ecosystem open-source projects such as patches, extensions, or tooling (preferred).
