Machine Learning Engineer

What you'll do

• Contribute to cutting-edge research in machine learning and artificial intelligence applicable to Pinterest products.
• Collect, analyze, and synthesize data findings to build intelligent, data-driven models.
• Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code for large-scale production environments.
• Apply NLP, graph analysis, and machine learning to solve ranking problems across discovery, ads, and search.
• Design, build, and test models to predict user engagement for push notifications, emails, and in-app alerts.
• Develop content recommendation systems to power various notification channels.
• Execute state-of-the-art large-scale applied machine learning projects.
• Scope and independently solve moderately complex engineering problems.

What we're looking for

• PhD in Computer Science, ML, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related field is required.
• Experience in machine learning including ranking, computer vision, NLP, content recommendations, embedding, and information retrieval.
• Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop/Spark and scalable real-time systems for stream data.
• Mastery of at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python) or one ML framework (Tensorflow, Pytorch, MLFlow).
• Proficiency in AI-native engineering and designing agent-friendly codebases.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated suggestions for correctness, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Experience in research and solving analytical problems.
• Publications in machine learning, AI, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related technical fields (preferred).
