Software Engineer II

What you'll do

• Develop algorithms to extract high-fidelity semantic meaning from complex urban edge cases.
• Enrich the L4 data lake by adding rich semantics to massive driving data.
• Architect onboard systems including management of upstream sensor dependencies and evaluation metrics.
• Define requirements for high-quality large evaluation datasets and objective performance metrics.
• Implement advanced autonomy techniques for better data mining and causal modeling of vehicle behavior.
• Deploy machine learning techniques into production in coordination with platform, product, and security teams.
• Solve complex, unstructured problems through independent research and technical project execution.

What we're looking for

• Completing or recently completed a PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience writing clean, maintainable, and high-quality code in a production or collaborative research environment (preferred).
• Deep technical expertise in distributed systems, algorithmic design, optimization, or large-scale data processing (preferred).
• Documented history of solving complex, unstructured problems through independent research or technical projects (preferred).
• Experience designing and crafting scalable, reliable, and reusable software solutions for complex architectural or algorithmic challenges (preferred).
• Proven ability to thrive in a high-ambiguity environment with adaptability and a bias for action (preferred).
• Strong systems-thinking mindset balancing long-term technical health with short-term business needs (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills translating complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders (preferred).
