The Operations Test Engineer joins the Operations Test Engineering team to focus on manufacturing test solutions. This role involves active engagement with Hardware, Operations, and Business teams to manage the product life cycle from concept to production. Key responsibilities include designing for testability, developing technical test processes, and leading the optimization of test solutions to enhance quality and operational efficiency. The engineer will perform failure analysis, utilize statistical tools like GR&R, SPC, and Cp/pCk, and implement Design of Experiments. Required skills include experience in assembly, inspection, test station design, and automation equipment. The role requires a BS or MS in mechanical, electrical, or similar engineering disciplines. The work involves solving technical challenges in manufacturing testability, quality assurance, and supply chain correlation for new products.
Design products for testability by incorporating FMEA and engineering requirements into the early design phase.
Manage the full product life cycle from initial concept through to mass production.
Develop and optimize technical test processes to improve manufacturing quality and operational efficiency.
Use statistical tools like GR&R, SPC, and Cp/pCk to ensure test fixtures are scalable and performant.
Plan and implement testing procedures for new products using Design of Experiments (DOE) and data analysis.
Identify and close test gaps and correlation issues across the global supply chain to reduce costs.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to third-party vendors, automation suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
Present weekly test engineering program status updates to the executive team.
What we're looking for
3+ years of work experience in assembly, inspection, test station design, test development, maintenance, and/or automation equipment.
BS or MS degree in mechanical, electrical, or a similar engineering discipline.
Ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
Experience working with cross-functional teams such as hardware design, system teams, capital equipment, quality, and process engineering (preferred).
Knowledge of tester qualification requirements including calibration, correlation, capability, repeatability, reproducibility, design of experiments, and failure analysis (preferred).
Ability to understand and plan development builds and mass production with factories worldwide (preferred).
Ability to communicate effectively in a worldwide environment (preferred).
