The Metro Cost Lead joins the Cloud Operations + Innovation team to manage the financial and operational aspects of metro-based and campus projects, including new construction and retrofits for data center facilities. This role involves monitoring project budgets, managing procurement activities, and overseeing vendor performance while ensuring compliance with contract terms and safety regulations like OSHA. The individual will be responsible for tracking project progress regarding scope, schedule, and budget, while also reviewing engineering documentation to mitigate risks and improve constructability. Key responsibilities include coordinating with internal stakeholders in areas such as Engineering, Legal, and Project Controls to align with corporate goals. The role requires expertise in construction project management, architecture, or engineering to navigate the complexities of large-scale infrastructure projects and ensure all site activities meet established organizational standards and safety requirements.
Monitor project budgets and provide oversight for expenditure requests, change orders, and pay applications.
Manage construction projects including new builds and retrofits for data center facilities.
Oversee procurement activities to ensure materials and staffing are sufficient to meet budget forecasts.
Review engineering designs and building plans to identify risks and improve constructability.
Monitor vendor performance against contracts and manage their compliance with budget and safety standards.
Develop metrics, dashboards, and scorecards to track risk mitigation and project progress.
Ensure all construction programs comply with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards.
Analyze technical information to provide data-based recommendations for project delivery and cost savings.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field and 12+ years of related experience (or equivalent).
Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check.
Experience managing project budgets, including oversight of expenditure requests, change orders, and pay applications.
Experience overseeing procurement activities for resources and materials to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
Experience in risk mitigation by developing metrics, dashboards, and scorecards to track progress.
Ability to review engineering documentation, site plans, and building designs to identify risks and improve constructability.
Experience managing vendor performance, including contract compliance, audit results, and reviewing pay applications.
15+ years of experience working on data center projects (preferred); Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field and 15+ years of related experience (preferred).
