Materials Engineer, AI Satellites

What you'll do

• Develop high-reliability microelectronics packages, cooling systems, and radiator hardware for satellites.
• Manage the full lifecycle of materials specification, validation, characterization, and failure analysis.
• Drive system trades, requirements capture, material selection, prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
• Build supply chains and define acceptance criteria for coatings, chemicals, and thermal interface materials.
• Solve advanced packaging challenges and develop next-generation thermal interface materials to improve performance.
• Implement in-process metrology tools and design test vehicles to evaluate material and electronic properties.
• Integrate simulation tools with experimental data to drive targeted improvements via material or process changes.
• Manage compliance risks related to materials and processes to ensure safety and environmental standards.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, or another engineering discipline.
• Experience in microelectronics device research or manufacturing.
• Master's degree in materials science or a similar field is preferred.
• Experience in hardware, robotics, automation, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Experience designing tooling, fixtures, or jigs for assembly or test applications is preferred.
• Exposure to scripting or data analysis tools like Python or MATLAB is preferred.
• Familiarity with manufacturing process development methodologies such as PFMEA and SPC is preferred.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee to meet ITAR requirements.
